Harris Joins The Pirates
- CHRIS admits he is “delighted” to have finally signed for one of his favourite tracks in the UK.
The former British Grand Prix winner was snapped up by Poole tonight following the sad demise of Rye House.
It takes Harris to Wimborne Road, scene of some of the most dramatic moments in his career, on a circuit he loves.
He revealed: “I’ve always enjoyed my visits to Poole. It’s a track I’ve always loved racing on and I’m buzzing that I get to go there every week.
“I’ve had some incredible meetings at Wimborne Road down the years but I’m finally glad to be on the home side. The fans have always been very good to me, I’ve never forgotten that.
“There’s been lots of changes to the side this year but hopefully we can settle down now and try and push on for the Play-Offs.
“Poole have such an incredible success rate and I want to be apart of that and see what can be achieved. It’s going to be hard but we’ll give it everything we’ve got.”
Former World No 6 ‘Bomber' was gutted to see Rye House close down but admits he wants to end the season on a high at Wimborne Road.
He added: “It’s a dreadful feeling when a track closes like that. I’ve had it with Coventry as well and it’s just terrible for the sport.
“But the management at Poole have been great to me. They want to get the best out of me and I think everyone knows that I give 100 per cent in every race. I can’t wait to get started as a Pirate.”
